You will learn the proper techniques for using laboratory glassware to obtain the most accurate measurements. This training video also shows you how to properly read each type of glassware so you will maintain high quality in the process of laboratory testing. Upon completion of this course, you will know the many varieties of laboratory glassware and how and when to use them.

Course Description: This course shows the many choices of glassware available for laboratory testing. It clearly defines the types and uses for each type of glassware. It visually presents the glassware while demonstrating typical usage in a laboratory. This training will also familiarize you with the proper techniques for handling and procedures for using multiple types of glassware in a laboratory. Beginning analysts, experienced analysts, plant operators and specifically those involved with laboratory testing will benefit.

Glassware Definitions:

  • learn the choices of glassware available based on the degree of accuracy desired

  • learn the graduation of glassware that is available: "TD" and "TC"

  • learn when to use volumetric glassware

  • learn how to read liquids correctly by using the meniscus

  • learn the primary uses for graduated cylinders, beakers, and Erlenmeyer flasks

  • learn the differences in types and uses of pipettes as well as how to correctly transfer liquid using a pipette

  • learn about mechanical pipettes, both adjustable and fixed volume, and the instructions for calibrating and using mechanical pipettes
