Series III -Ammonia Nitrogen, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, and Total Suspended Solids
Is your laboratory performing analytical testing using approved methods based upon the March 26, 2007 revision to the Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for the Analysis of Pollutants, Analytical Methods for Biological Pollutants in Wastewater and Sewage Sludge Final Rule as stated in 40 CFR 136 and 503? Many of the EPA test methods are no longer approved for testing and reporting of plant samples as required by NPDES permits. This course will provide information on the acceptable methods for Nitrogen Ammonia, BOD, and TSS. The course is designed for attendees to prepare and analyze samples for each of these tests.
Who Should Attend
Great hands on training that is beneficial for all laboratory analysts with a career in laboratory testing and analysis in accordance to NPDES permit requirements. This course will also benefit Wastewater Treatment Plant Analysts, Operators, and Superintendents who perform testing of process control samples for plant operations and/or prepare monthly NPDES reports containing results for NH3, BOD, and TSS determinations.
Learning Objectives
Those attending this course will learn data documentation procedures for each test; reagent documentation procedures; the required quality control samples to be analyzed for each batch of samples; calculations of final results and percent recovery and precision calculations; routine maintenance of equipment for these tests and supporting quality control activities including balance calibration verification requirements and thermometer calibrations.
Course Description
This is a one day course with 90% of the training performed in the laboratory. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own equipment being used on a day to day basis. Learn how to calibrate your own instrumentation, store curves and perform routine maintenance including changing Dissolved Oxygen Probe membranes or Nitrogen Ammonia electrode membranes. This is a great advantage to bring new ISE meters and/or Dissolved Oxygen Probes to the course to learn how to use them for the specific tests you need to perform.
