Ammonia-Nitrogen, BOD, CBOD, and Solids
Is your laboratory performing analytical testing using the most current methods? Many EPA test methods are no longer approved for testing and reporting of plant samples as required by NPDES permits. This course will decipher the guidelines and clarify the acceptable methods for Ammonia-Nitrogen, BOD, CBOD, and solids.
Who Should Attend
This course provides excellent hands-on training for all laboratory analysts who adhere to NPDES permit requirements. This course will also benefit wastewater treatment plant analysts, operators, and superintendents who perform testing of process control samples for plant operations and/or prepare monthly NPDES reports containing results for Ammonia-Nitrogen, BOD, CBOD, and solids determinations.
Course Description
No boring classroom lectures; 90 percent of this one-day course will take place in the laboratory. Feel free to bring the equipment you use on a day-to-day basis. Learn how to calibrate your own instrumentation, store curves, and perform routine maintenance - including changing Dissolved Oxygen Probe membranes or Nitrogen-Ammonia electrode membranes. This is also a great opportunity to bring new ISE meters and/or Dissolved Oxygen Probes and learn how to use them for specific tests.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, participants will be proficient in:
•Data and reagent documentation procedures for each test
•Required quality control samples to be analyzed for each batch of samples
•Calculation of final results
•Percent recovery and precision calculations
•Maintenance of equipment used for these test
•Supporting quality control activities (including balance calibration verification requirements
and thermometer calibrations)
