You will learn various techniques to correctly preserve a sample when preservation is necessary.   You will learn how to incorporate quality assurance procedures to help validate data by reviewing all paperwork associated with the specific test being performed. You will learn to review calculations and evaluate the results for proper rounding, significant figures, and determine if data is reported with the proper reporting units. You will also learn to report results with the appropriate reporting units and how to convert analytical data into the correct reporting units by using some common conversion factors that are routinely used in water and wastewater laboratories. You will also learn best practices and procedures for a final review of data and implementing an evaluation process to ensure test results are displayed with the correct test name and the appropriate parameter names are reported based upon permit limits or possible maximum containment level requirements.

You will learn about the different types of PT studies that are commonly available: WS, WP, and DMRQA. You will learn how blind standards are used in the PT process to ensure the accuracy of the reporting laboratory analyses.
