Alloway Hosts Holiday Open House

On December 13th and 15th, Alloway customers were invited to visit the Lima and Marion facilities for a Holiday Open House. Ohio Organizations Receive Funding from Great Lakes Restoration Initiative

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded organizations, agencies and universities working in Ohio $4,508,572 in grants under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. The grant focuses on cleaning up toxics and toxic hot spot areas of concern, combating invasive species, promoting near-shore health by protecting watersheds from polluted run-off, and restoring wetlands and other habitats. EPA Releases Human Health Assessment for TCE

10/12/11

The U.S. EPA recently released the final human health assessment for trichloroethylene (TCE). The EPA characterizes the chemical as carcinogenic to humans and as a human noncancer health hazard. This assessment may lead to a revision of the maximum containment level for TCE in drinking water. Alloway is certified by the Ohio EPA and NELAC to test for TCE.

Nichole Jones Promoted to Lima Lab Manager

Former Customer Service Manager, Nichole Jones, will be taking the lead as the new Laboratory Manager of the Lima facility. Nichole has been employed with Alloway for nearly 10 years. Alloway is excited about the direction she will offer to the Lima laboratory.

Alloway President Shares Kenya Experience

Alloway’s President, John Hoffman, is bringing the knowledge he recently gained from a trip to Kenya back to the states. In June, John traveled to Kenya as a part of the global graduate studies in the Earth Expeditions program.  The focus of the trip was on studying sustainable approaches to human-wildlife coexistence.

Alloway Sponsors Nature Photography Contest

Alloway is sponsoring the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District’s 36th Annual Nature Photography Contest. The contest features photographs in 3 different categories: specific nature subjects, landscapes, and parks potpourri. Ohio EPA Algae Information Site

Recent algae blooms in Ohio, most notably the devastating bloom in Grand Lake St. Marys, have raised awareness about cyanotoxins in state waters. Alloway President Travels to Kenya

Ohio EPA Wastewater Laboratory Inspections

05/16/11

The Ohio EPA Division of Surface Water has begun conducting wastewater laboratory inspections. General Laboratory Criteria (GLC) were established for common analyses. The GLC are based on 40 CFR 136 and Standard Methods. You can download a copy of the GLC audit checklist here
